CBS-Comment about racism censored, airs jab at mental illness

Complaint on Big Brother forum on CBS website
Apparently, a lot of people are angered by the comments made by Chima on Big Brother 11. I have been overwhelmed by people who were offended. CBS, it’s time for you to mend fences.
The screen shot above is a post on the CBS Big Brother community message board at http://www.cbs.com/forum/posts/list/72035.page.
CBS seems to condone the insensitive remark made by Chima Simone Benson. Not only did they air the comment, but they posted it verbatim on their website under the Big Brother Recap at http://www.cbs.com/primetime/big_brother/recaps/1111/recaps.php?season=11. (Screen shot below.)

It’s rather odd that the recap of Chima’s speech when Braden Bacha was evicted was edited to bleep out remarks she made concerning racism and bigotry. CBS doesn’t post her remarks about that. Look at their recap of her speech at http://www.cbs.com/primetime/big_brother/recaps/1104/recaps.php?season=11. I have included the screenshot of that as well. (Screen shot below.) Chima stated that anyone who voted for Braden supported racism and misogyny.

Her speech was:
It amazes me how short some of the memory spans in here are because my opponent here called both of my very good friends a [inaudible] and you called Julie a whore. Yes, he did. And so, a vote for Braden is a vote for a bigot. Anyone who aligns themselves with a racist and a misogynist –you deserve to go home.
I wholeheartedly agree that those statements should have been censored. It was live television and they still managed to bleep it out. However, the comment made by Chima concerning bipolar disorder was not live and was indeed chosen by the editors to be aired on the show. Racism, bigotry and hatred of women-bad. Insensitive remarks about mental illness-good television? No. It proves that CBS is insensitive to viewers with mental illness and while they do not condone racism, they do condone cheap shots at the mentally ill.

CBS, just issue a formal apology and refrain from airing comments that are insensitive to those with a mental illness.
